Found Discussion

September Book Club meeting will be at Cubbies on Tuesday, September 30, from 3:30 -5:00.  Plan for transportation to and from Cubbies; make certain your ride will pick you up at Cubbies at 5.  Bring your copy of the novel Found and $ for refreshments.  Be ready to dive into Chip and Jonah’s big adventure.  Please post here to reserve your place as I need to give Mr. Ballou a count.

Radical Readers Wanted

Some of you have already posted that you are interested in joining our adolescent book club, and some of you have told me face to face.  However, I would like for you to post here, so that we can begin to visualize our group.  Our first meeting looks like it will be Tuesday, September 23 or 30 at 3:30 at Cubbies.  How does that work with your schedule?  We will plan for an hour and a half.  Other thoughts, questions, comments, post it here.

Radical Readers Book Club

Students, Parents, Teachers, Community Members,

          Are you prepared for a literary adventure of a lifetime?  We can learn so much through literature and discussion as well as from each other in our first ever adolescent book club.  This book club is open to 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade students of MCMS, their parents and/or other family members, teachers, and interested community members.  This is a chance of a lifetime to discuss a variety of issues as well as have some fascinating literary adventures with our youth –the future generation.  A novel will be selected each month by the students.  Participants will purchase or obtain a copy of the novel to read and bring to the club meeting.  We will meet in a variety of local establishments, some of which will be theme related to the novel.  Don’t miss this fantastic literary opportunity to read and discuss our first book Found, written by Margaret Haddix, for the month of September. I suggest you purchase a copy of Found to read and have readily available for our first club meeting in September.  It is currently available in Scholastic Tab, hard cover, for a mere $6.00, a $10 savings compared to other retail options.  TAB orders must be made by this Friday, August 29, 2008.  You can see if a teacher on your team is participating in Scholastic Tab, come get an order form from Mrs. Lancaster, or order on-line from Mrs. Lancaster’s blog under Breaking News.  You can also get more information regarding Radical Readers from Mrs. Lancaster’s blog (easily accessible through the MCMS website) under Radical Readers.  Now for a little teaser about Found…
